Today we remember tenor saxophone
legend Don Byas on his birthday.
He had the privilege of playing with
both the Count Basie and Duke Ellington
Orchestras in his career.
In September of 1946 Byas went on a
European tour with Don Redman's big
band and remained there for the rest
of his life.
Here he is captured on film during a
1958 performance in Cannes, France.
