It's Sonny Criss Day‏

This day in 1927 William
"Sonny" Criss was born.
 
By his teens he was playing
with Howard McGhee's Band in
Los Angles along side the great
Charlie Parker.
 
To truly appreciate his artistic
abilities here he is taking the
next solo after watching tenor
sax man Teddy Edwards.
 
There is no comparison, Sonny
takes the crown!
