Today we remember Chet Baker;
a man whose early career was
once referred to, by Jazz historian
David Gelly, as being like those of
James Dean, Frank Sinatra, and
Bix Beiderbecke rolled into one.
In 1951 Chet was hand picked by
Charlie Parker to play with him for
a series gigs on the West Coast.
He is seen here during a performance
with alto saxophonist Paul Desmond.
