Posted: 26 Oct 2011 12:00 PM PDT Cosplay in all its forms is getting bigger and bigger in pretty much every part of the world. Some people are really getting into their characters, and sometimes determining whether the person is completely insane or just really into their character is hard to figure out. Regardless, one thing that all of these people have in common is that they really go all out and create something that will completely mesmerize whoever looks at them. Of course, it depends on what kind of costume they have on, but some are truly amazing. You start to wonder how the heck it was all put together, not to mention how the heck they managed to bring it all with them to the conventions they constantly go to. If you, as an adult, want to get into all of this cosplay without having to get into all of the hassle that goes along with creating your own costume, I think this might be something for you to check out. Maybe you are even too shy or too cool to get into all this huff about cosplay, and if that’s the case, what I am about to show you is right up your alley. It’s the Power Rangers underwear for adults. Yup, you heard me. These are for the hidden cosplayers who would like to live it up just a tad. Each pair will set you back about $27.95, and as you can see, you have several different styles and Power Rangers to choose from. Now you can go all undercover with your favorite Power Ranger outfit without anyone even noticing. See, cosplay is getting ever more popular, and I am sure we will start seeing a ton of new stuff for hidden cosplayers quite soon. Maybe these will go even go well with the Superhero Socks With Capes that Diana wrote about not too long ago… I need to have a look at those again. |
Posted: 26 Oct 2011 11:00 AM PDT Almost a year ago, I wrote about how to get a smile full of LEDs and turn your teeth into a cyborg. That little invention, which went viral and made it all the way to the New York Times, was pretty neat. Even though it was a little disturbing, kids all over Japan were running around with their mobile devices which they used to wirelessly control the flashing bright lights in their mouths. One of the inventors of that creation was Daito Manabe, who is up to it again with some creative, fun and very entertaining interactive digital art that revolves around the human face. To create this, Daito, and his friend Zachary Liberman, who both like to use technology in playful ways, started with FaceTracker. FaceTracker is a real time generic non-rigid face alignment system. They added a bunch of code, some mathematical algorithms, Kinect and a dash of geeky fun to create Face Projection. In other words, they elaborated on the original program to make it interactive and alter the facial shapes themselves. Since FaceTracker is completely intuitive, no training is required. This isn’t the only cool thing it can be used for, and I think the options are really limitless. It is free, but it’s only available for research purposes. You can get information on how to download it on the website link above.

Posted: 26 Oct 2011 10:00 AM PDT If you have been on Twitter for a little while, I am sure you have built up quite an archive of tweets. They may vary from random thoughts to pictures from interesting adventures you have been on. Whatever it is that is mesmerizing your followers, I am sure you have no idea what to do with your tweets once they are out of the public’s eye. Are they just going to sit there in your timeline with little or no attention given to them at all? If you look at it from a status update point of view, I am sure they will, but there are other ways to put your old tweets to good use. Namely, you can create some stunning art with them. There is a new service that launched not too long ago which will take your tweets and make artwork out of them. It might sound a little weird, and I have to admit that it is anything but ordinary. This new service called Firebox will let you create a picture out of your tweets and your profile picture. So if you have at least 230 tweets, £24.99 and a profile picture on your Twitter account, this service will automatically process it all into a really unique picture which I am sure you can use as your new profile picture. It’s one of those things that you will just have to try in order to see if it suits you. This way, your profile picture will be one-of-a-kind and unique. There are all kinds of examples for you to see ranging from Lady Gaga to Ashton Kutcher, so you will have a good idea about how this looks when the process is all finished. If I may say so myself, I think it’s pretty darn creative. However, I am indecisive when it comes to whether or not anyone would be able to tell that it is a unique kind of Twitter profile picture once it has made into a small picture gracing your profile. Then again, you are able to click the profile picture and get a larger sized image, so maybe this will work out just fine in the end anyway. It is a really creative way to make your account just a little less ordinary, and it will give your profile picture a personal touch. |
Posted: 26 Oct 2011 09:00 AM PDT Miss Piggy, who stars in the new movie The Muppets, is currently strutting her stuff on the PR trail. She is showing up everywhere, and she even scored an 8-page photo spread in the November issue of Instyle Magazine which hit newsstands last Friday. Miss Piggy, who has always been my favorite pig, has built a 35-year career on her confidence and her bold personality. The photo shoot has Miss Piggy bringing sexy back in strappy sandals which accentuate her hooves and couture custom designs by Jason Wu, Prabal Gurung, Suno, Opening Ceremony, Brian Atwood and Giles & Brother. The people at Instyle Magazine were quick to point out that Miss Piggy doesn’t have any wrinkles on her smooth snout. She told the magazine, “I was, as the saying goes, born this way: Perfect.” She dishes about her massive shoe collection, her inspirations, and her relationship with Kermit in this video on Instyle’s Facebook. Miss Piggy definitely proves that curvy women can look hot and wear extravagant outfits too. She says, “Style is about expressing your inner self, capturing your personal ethos, and, most importantly, spending someone else’s money.” If you would like to see more of Miss Piggy’s style, check out Miss Piggy’s Style Evolution From The 1970s To Now. Posted: 26 Oct 2011 08:00 AM PDT Oh how I loved the Commodore 64 when it was released. My brother and I managed to get a hold of one, and we used to work that basic programming language like our lives depended on it. We created small and large applications ranging from simple art to some extensive text adventure games which we showed to our friends. It is one of those memories that I will carry with me for the rest of my life. The Commodore 64, or the C64 as it came to be called among the users, was one of the most iconic home computers ever sold. As a matter of fact, it was actually the most sold computer system ever launched. I am sure at the pace Apple is moving, this record will soon be obliterated; however, for now it stands with its supposed 17 million computers sold. There is a new breed of the C64 coming soon, and this time around, the technology under the hood is up-to-date and fresh. To honor the release of this new Commodore 64, the guys over at Discount Coder put together an infographic that outlines and delivers the C64′s history through time. If you are a geek who loves your computer history, then this is exactly the kind of information that you will want to dig your teeth into. You have everything here from general facts to complicated motherboard flowcharts that will take you through the entire Commodore 64′s simple, yet at the same time, intricate system and core. I am still contemplating whether I should plunk down the money for one of these just as an homage to this legendary friend of my earlier me. We’ll see what happens, but I guess we all would like to review a demo of it before we commit to any purchases. One really neat thing is that it will be sold for the exact same price as the very first C64 was sold for, which is $595!

Posted: 26 Oct 2011 07:00 AM PDT The Internet community seems to love it when creative artists redesign their favorite Disney princesses, and it seems a new style surfaces almost every week. We’ve written about many of those designs here on Bit Rebels, and you can see all of them here. This is definitely a new perspective though, and I haven’t seen anything like it before. You may have noticed that we’re big fans of steampunk. However, when I think of steampunk, I think of gizmos and gadgets getting a Victorian makeover, not the Disney princesses we all grew up with getting steampunkized. These designs are a lot of fun, and they definitely add some sassy spunk to the usual Disney style. It took deviantARTist HelleeTitch an entire year to complete these, and as you can see, it was well worth the wait. Here is the crazy part; I only featured her 9 steampunk Disney princess in this post. She didn’t just create these, and as a matter of fact, she went a little nuts with this collection. She steampunked dozens of Disney characters, and if you visit her Steampunk Disney Gallery, you’ll find characters from Aladdin, Alice in Wonderland, Beauty and the Beast, Cinderella, Hercules, Hunchback of Notre Dame, The Little Mermaid, Peter Pan, Pinocchio, Pocahontas, Sleeping Beauty, Tarzan, 101 Dalmatians and many, many more. Wow, now that is impressive! |
