The wonderful and unforgettable musician,

keyboard pioneer, composer, singer and producer

has passed away recently, August 5, at age 67, 

and with that, gone away also his unforgettable smile,

but not his music.

As leader of many groups and bands, 

or sideman of Miles Davis, Frank Zappa, 

Cannonball Adderley, Al Jarreau, 

Jean-Luc Ponty, John Scofield, Billy Cobham,

Milton Nascimento, Flora Purim, Airto Moreira,

among many others…

Maybe Herbie Hancock 

-that comes  to Chile next week

and will give a concert

with Vinnie Colaiuta

on the drums, of course,

Zakir Hussain in percussion

& James Genus on the bass,

August 14 at Teatro Caupolicán-

will probably at some point

of his presentation

pay a tribute to the unforgettable George,

a Duke in the great tradition and nobility

of the joy and creativity if jazz 

and music its widest and wildest expression.
