Joe Henderson Day‏

Tenor saxophonist, Joe Henderson was 
born today in Lima, Ohio in 1937.

He studied at Wayne State University 
in Detroit along with Yusef Lateef and 
Donald Byrd and would dedicate his first 
album to his parents and older brother 
for their continuing faith and support.

Known predominantly as a hard bop player 
his music would mature to encompass the
stylistic elements of more than one genre.
