A consistent force of experimentation and 
innovation Gil Evans planned to collaborate 
with Jimmie Hendrix, but the rock guitarist's 
tragic death prevented it from ever happening.

With deep respect he created band arrangements for 
a number of the deceased's compositions which then
became a part of his standard repertoire.
