The author of a number of popular songs 
Herb Alpert was already well on his way
when a recording experiment in the early 
1960s facilitated his biggest success. 

Though the magic of overdubbing he was able 
to create an imaginary brass band that became 
so popular he was forced to assemble a real 
one for public appearances.

Jazz on the Tube would like to wish Herb 
a happy 79th birthday with a performance 
from his "Tijuana Brass Band."
