During the 1930s his brash horn style
set him apart for other cornetist of
the period winning him a position in
the Duke Ellington Orchestra.
In commemoration of his unique artistry
Rex Stewart is featured engaged in a
battle of horns with Nick Travis for a
1950s TV appearance.
