On this day in 1930 tenor
saxophonist Booker Ervin
was born.
He attended the Berkeley College
of Music and is best known for
his association with legendary
string bassist Charlie Mingus with
whom he performed and recorded
extensively.
Here he is captured on film in an
All Stars assembly while in Europe
during the 1960's.
