Paul Gonsalves featured with 
the Duke Ellington Orchestra 
playing "Diminuendo and Crescendo
in Blue." 

This is the hit performance 
at the Newport Jazz Festival 
in 1956, which is now considered
jazz folklore. Ellington calls
it "The Wailing Interval" or 
"Blow By Blow." 

Gonsalves almost created a riot 
as he played a tenor sax solo 
for 27 choruses that stirred 
the crowd into a frenzy!
