Exploration

From unknowns to unknowns

At the beginning

we don't know nothing

but we don't mind,

we live in the age of wonder

let's call it innocence,

everything is new and surprising,

we don't have the least idea

that the process of learning has began.

Then one integrates information

without having conscience of it,

we reach the age we 

don't know what we know…

Until we arrive to a point, you know,

where there are known knowns

there are things we know we know.

This process of exploration

goes further until we realize 

and begin to know that

there are known unknowns,

that is to say we know 

there are some things we do not know.

But there are also unknown unknowns,

the ones we don't know we don't know.

With humbleness and age,

and a certain detachment

of too much knowledge

(and en ever bigger ignorance),

we begin to forget

and keep to the essentials;

a return to know 

that  at a deeper level 

we don't know how we know 

and we are not sure of what we know.

At the end of our lives

when we cannot recall

the things we said today

we complete the circle,

we become childs again

who do not know what we know

to finally forget everything.

We get back to the stage

we don't know nothing at all

and reach some degree of innocence,

hopefully a modest sort of wisdom

-but this time with a kind of pain-

similar to giving birth 

to a new creature, 

this time in another dimension,

but we really don't know for sure...
