The story of Bix Beiderbecke
has become the stuff of legend;
casting Bix as the misunderstood
musical genius plagued by the
demons of alcoholism.
But long before his darkest days
the young cornetist would attended
a landmark recording session in
January of 1925.
Joined by friends from the Jean
Goldkette Orchestra, he composed
his famous "Davenport Blues" on
the spot.
This record captures the magic of
that first improvised performance
for the ages.
Happy Birthday Bix.
